A Special Birthday At Ristorante Da Valentino
EveLovelle was invited to dine as guest at Ristorante Da Valentino
Ristorante Da Valentino is one of the best Italian restaurants in Indonesia. I couldn’t resist having another Italian affair especially on a special occasion like my birthday because Italian food is my favourite cuisine. The place makes for a stunning backdrop for you looking to get that perfect Instagram photo. The restaurant has tons of paintings that convey parts of the Italian Renaissance. On the other hand, the food did not disappoint, quality is controlled by accountable foreign hands.
Fortunately, Valentino invited me over to celebrate my Birthday with them. We were here once before 8 months back for Jan’s Birthday and I have also blogged about it here. The last time round we came by during night time so you can click on the link to see how the setting/ mood of the place changes.
We may or may not have eaten too much carbs during our meal. The Ciabatta is usually complimentary and it is served with green pesto sauce. The breads were baked crisp and it was more addictive than chips I kid you not. We tried not to eat too much of them or we would have been filled up before the next courses come. The calamari had a nice light batter and it was perfectly tender and juicy. It had a nice springy but not chewy texture.
The salad was light and a delight. It was albeit on the sourish side, which tasted perfect when you have it with the beef in a mouthful.
Another carb plate came through the oven and we couldn’t help but finish the whole plate before the main meals came. It is known to the Italians that less is more when it comes to pizza toppings. The ingredients were simple: dough, tomato base, beef bacon, egg and black pepper. The bacon was albeit of a toughie, but the egg portion was so, gooood!
And…. another carb but this time pasta! The Fettuccine was cooked al dente and it absorbed the flavours of the meat. Simple and perfecto!
Every bite of this were scoops of soft, moistened flavours of umami from the mushrooms and truffles. If you fancy truffles, this is the dish for you.
Pollo Alla Milanese fried chicken was succulent and juicy. Encircled with golden crisp crumbs, this fried chicken was superb. The only thing missing, was sauce! I am imagining mushroom or easy black-pepper sauce would be nice. Perhaps have cheese and mash tomatoes to make a parma. It would’ve justified a good piece of well cooked fried chicken.
Ristorante Da Valentino also has a few private rooms great to celebrate events with small groups.
Valentino surprised me with a Birthday Lava Cake with a candle towards the end of the meal (candle taken out in this picture). We enjoyed every single dessert and the two of us had a tough time finishing the last scoops of Tiramisu but all else were devoured. The Chantilly I find lovely as it wasn’t too sweet of a dessert, which is perfect to have with a cup of coffee. The plate with a lava cake on it looked so pretty, and kudos to the chef who had such a beautiful handwriting! The Lava Cake was sweet and dark, the ice cream and cake combined was a rich dessert that melts in your mouth. The tiramisu cream was also lovely and the tea we had were great companions to these sweet desserts.
Thank you Valentino once again for inviting me over to celebrate my special day with you. As I grow a year older I wish for greater things to come, and the means and strength to overcome it. I am grateful for all that has happened or have yet to come. I have always believed that the world is your oyster, whatever you make of it.
Ristorante Da Valentino celebrates the Italian heritage by recreating a space that represents one. The heart of Italian cuisine and culture is at the core of Valentino’s. This is that one place you must visit if you’re craving Italian.
