Melbourne Opens Up St. Ali Branch In Jakarta
St Ali is no stranger to Melbournians and its one of the leading coffee connoisseurs in Australia. Matt Perger, the man behind St Ali’s rise to fame, is a world champion coffee brewer. He was placed first in the World Coffee & Good Spirits Championship in 2014, and first in the 2012 World Brewers Cup. The brunch cafe offers a selection of creatively curated brunch and lunch menu, and freshly brewed coffee beans from St Ali’s roastery.
Under Matt Perger’s influence, every cup of milk based coffee needs to be skilfully perfected, in not just flavour but also art.
I received a flab of thick kaiserfleich bacon steak served with cauliflower done two ways, roasted and pureed. The companions were a sunny side duck egg and just a dab of balsamic jus. I almost forgot how thoughtful and creative Australians are when they create dishes. The same love and knowledge were shared with the branch here in Jakarta. The bacon was done to perfection, everything when eaten all at once tasted heavenly. The meat dabbed in yolk and puree was a terrific concoction.
My friend ordered a gluten free option which consists of crispy potato hash with a chunk of mushroom duxelle, poached eggs, parmesan, iceberg greens and truffle vinaigrette. The truffle sprayed on the mushrooms really brought out an even more robust umami flavour. We love how the yolk ties separate items into a single, spectacular flavour.
Melbourne will always have a special place in my heart. Many brunch places in Melbourne are top-class and their quality are unmatchable. If you are planning to pay a visit to Melbourne, I have a post on Top 25 Things To Do In Melbourne that you might be interested in reading. I have summed up the best of the best places to see and many great brunch places to go to. Don’t forget to leave a comment if you find it useful 🙂 As usual you guys have a great week ahead!
