Ristorante Da Valentino
Oh how time has flown by. We made reservations at a romantic Italian restaurant to celebrate Jan’s big day as he turns a year older today. Ristorante Da Valentino has classical vibe but still remains contemporary and urbanized. We were greeted by the nicest Italian chef and local waiters, making us feel very welcomed and at ease.
Complimentary Bread + Berry Blush Mocktail
We decided to go with course set meals because there were too many options to pick from the normal menu and the course set menu would allow us to try out wee bits of everything portioned out for us. We were served with crusty and salted flatbread served with a side of green olive puree. The bread was addictive and best eaten warm.
Bruschetta Pomodoro Fresco + Calamari Fritti
We were given this plate each, toasted bread topped with freshly chopped tomato garlic and rockets on one side, and
deep fried squid on the other.
Linguini Aglio Olio Ai Funghi + Fettuccine Ai Salcicia Picante
We also had a plate of two pastas each. Its like ordering two pastas and being able to share both equally. The linguini pasta tossed with mushroom in extra virgin olive oil, garlic and chili was mind blowingly delicious. I hardly eat garlic in cloves but this one was an exception as it was caramelized to perfection. The fettucini pasta with pork sausage was a tad bit spicy for a classical red sauce but the punch of flavour was definitely present.
Filletto Di Pesce Alla Siciliana + Pollo Alla Diavola
For a main we picked two different ones but shared both in the end. The roasted spring chicken was served in a spicy homemade sauce served with boiled baby potatoes. We reckon it tasted and looked better than the snapper fish fillet served on a light tomato sauce with black olives.
Its been awhile since we took photos while we visit restaurants and since it is his birthday after all, this day should be remembered with our faces included on the blog. Happiest Birthday to you my love!
Panna Cotta + Torta Chantilly + English Breakfast Tea
We ended the meal with vanilla filled cream and milk curd panna cotta topped with simple red raspberry sauce and fresh cream, and a light vanilla sponge cake that fell sideways.
We were utterly impressed with the service and overall vibe of the place. There were quite a few picture worthy corners and I can’t quite take my pick on which one to upload to this post. My favourite dish of the night were the pastas and we were drugged as well with complimentary bread given which we could not stop eating, so simple yet so good. We were really glad we picked out this restaurant to celebrate Jan’s Birthday. I definitely would recommend this place to friends and readers who are looking for a place to celebrate any special occasion.
