Ombe Kofie is the quirkiest cafe around Pluit area. Entering upon the premises is like stepping to an adult playground. Turkish tiles and wooden furnitures, with colourful stools and cushions are used to decorate the coffee house. These textures aren’t design combinations that are often used, which makes the place unusual and loveable.
A typical solid Flat White in most cafes costs 30 000 RP ++ but Ombe Kofie’s brew falls on the pricier side at 40 000 RP ++. This is because they source coffee from overseas and it takes a lot more to cover up the cost. The coffee flavour is stronger than many out there in the market, which is a plus point for me. The cafe does not serve proper food meals, just small cakes and biscuits.
The place is owned by an elderly local, an unusual account since Jakarta’s cafe and roastery movement is mostly driven by the younger generations. Aren’t we all glad he broke out of the traditional norm and found his hidden passion?
One more thing, it is rather difficult to find parking as there aren’t many parking lots outside of the shophouse where this cafe is situated. Fantastic coffee and attentive service. Ombe, you are a great find.
