I’m back at Grand Indonesia guys, and I am determined to try out most of the restaurants at this mall because why not right? Out of those I have tried, Olivier is by far one of our favourites. Although I am a little bit icky of having to sit al fresco outside where air condition was not available, it is weird to have the smoking corner inside where the air conditioner is.. I mean, can’t they switch sides?! Then again, indoors is where the bar is, and people tend to smoke while they drink, so I guess it is understandable for their doing. I recommend on behalf of all other customers that Olivier should have their bar section outside and I think that’s a fair request that they can think about.
We were given complimentary bread. Funny how I never really got to taste aioli with sweet chili, and it was in fact unusually tasty.
Smoked Salmon, Crème Fraiche, Truffle Oil On Salt, Pepper Shortbread, 80 000RP
We had a soft shortbreads that wasn’t crunchy but crumbly. The bread tasted so much better with that texture that it had than it would be if it were to be crispy. The salmon was predictably delicious.
Thai Pomelo Coconut Salad With Shrimps, 80 000RP
The mix of bitter pomelo with the sweet and sour sauce really brought out a unique combination of flavours that’s not just tasty but also refreshing.
Spaghetti With Scallops, Ham & Truffle, 180 000RP
This spaghetti was one of the best spaghettis I have ever tried because it consists of all my favourite things; cream, thick cut bacon, scallops and truffle! Combining them was just an insanely brilliant thought.
Roast Chicken, Ratatouille, Mashed Potato, 120 000RP
I never knew what Ratatouille was until the movie came out and I searched for its meaning, which is, a traditional French sauteed vegetable dish. We could distinctly taste the zucchini, eggplant, red bell peppers and the Ratatouille as a whole had a nice saltish taste that we really liked. The mashed potatoes were visibly appealing, and it tasted as good as it looks as it was smooth and creamy. The roast chicken was cooked just right and I especially loved the thigh.
I do believe that Olivier is one of the better restaurants Grand Indonesia has to offer. For an Indonesian restaurant that is of this quality can be considered as legit. It had a foreign authentic flavour that I missed so much ever since I moved away from Melbourne. It may not fit to some local tongue but it sure as hell fit mine. I intend to find more of such restaurants that brings me great pleasure eating it and reviewing it.
