Red Spice QV intends to redefine Melbourne’s brunch experience by serving Asian inspired brunch dishes aside of its usual Asian lunch and dinner menu. This place is ideal for city goers as it is located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD in the QV Mall.
Red Spice QV exudes a warm and inviting space that is perfect for a casual meal regardless dining in the day or night.
Coconut Cleanser, 7AUD + Aloe Lychee Passion, 7AUDWe began with a two citrus cleansers. The coconut drink has coconut water, goji berries, fresh mint, cucumber in it that in combination was very rejuvenating and definitely cleansing. The Aloe Lychee Passion drink on the other hand was more sour because there were passionfruit, kaffir lime and lemon in it. There were also hints of aloe and a whole lychee fruit to top off the drink. Both drinks are extremely healthy and reinvigorating.
Pandan French Toast, 18AUDWhat could be more Asian than infusing pandan and coconut to any dish. The french toast successfully soaked the green pandan colour and flavour. We also absolutely loved the fact that the bananas were coated in caramel and cinnamon giving it a sweet flavour. The crunch factor was very well received from the crushed cashews tossed onto the dish. Also, a scoop of delicate coconut ice cream never hurts, as it ties all the different elements together.
Sweet Corn Fritters, 19.50AUD + Smashed Pork Belly, 5AUD
We shared both dishes as we wanted something sweet and savoury. The Sweet Corn Fritters that we ordered was a major hit among us. The fritters were served in sambal.. I know right…?! What!! We loved the idea as it reminded us of an Indonesian classic dish, the Bakwan Jagung that we would traditionally eat with sambal. The whole ensemble was well built up with avocado salsa, coriander and a poached egg, which is rather Mexican, and it also had a little of that Vietnamese flair. We consider this dish an all rounder, of flavours taken from various parts of the world, and we are happy with the mix. Oh yes, we also couldn’t pass with not adding pork belly to our dish, because why not?
I absolutely love these paintings and the casual random sofa tucked right against the wall. They could’ve used more space to fill in more seats, but the fact that they arranged a casual hangout space in the middle of the restaurant just made it all the more spacious, and more comfortable to hang.
Its spacious venue could definitely take in reservations for large groups, whether it is for a birthday event or just hanging out with the colleagues after work.
We love the simplicity of its interiors with a mini central bar at the front. There are many different types of seats around the restaurant and with every corners you decide to settle in you’ll enjoy a different atmosphere. Sitting at various corners of the restaurant is like reliving the same great food encounter, but in a completely different location. Red Spice QV really impressed us with its new brunch menu as its not that easy to find Asian inspired brunch menu elsewhere in this city.
