Bomba Downstairs

Bomba Downstairs is a commixture between a restaurant and bar, while Bomba Rooftop is a bar that specifically serves drinks only. We managed to try the food from downstairs and drinks at the rooftop.

Moorish Spiced Lamb Cutlet, 8AUD

This lamb cutlet was tender and a little bit chewy complemented with an amazing sauce. Couldn’t crack my brains out on what it was but it tasted a little bit like aioli, but its not.

Sourdough With Olive Oil

Free rounds of sourdough to keep you pretty filled up. We had multiple rounds and requested for butter on the side.

Charcoal Grilled Corn With Dried Maize, 4AUD

I suppose the dried crumbs were the dried maize. The crunchy factor bomba-rded our minds (see what I did there). Corn on top of dried corn was pretty amazing.

Catalan Arroz With Blue Grenadier, Prawns, Calamari, Mussels & Saffron, 36AUD

Bomba’s Paella had a more risotto-esque texture and if you’re a fan of this kind of consistency, you would love it. It would be better if the paella was more dried but still moist in texture. This one was a little too watery. Comparably, paella that has yellowish coloration is physically more tempting than this one. So, yellow, sticky and moist.. That my friends, is how I would love my dream paella to be.

I would have tried making paella at home if saffrons were inexpensive. Couldn’t risk such expense with my non-existent paella making skills. In the end I always wind up walking to a restaurant if I would like a plate of paella.
