I have been wanting to try Oscar’s Cooper for the longest time ever since my friend Yan, raved about how good the food here was. My good friend of more than 10 years, Evonne, made her way from Brisbane to Melbourne for a couple of days and I just had to book a full day with her. This is totally random but when I think of Oscar’s Cooper, images of Bradley Cooper attending the Oscars are always permanent in my head. That.. the more reason why I love the cafe’s peculiar headliner.
Banana & Ricotta Pancakes W Berries, Double Cream Grilled Banana, Maple & Toasted Walnuts, 15AUD
Evonne went for it, breakfast for a queen, the sweet pancakes! Absolutely vegan with the mix of banana and berries. The pancake did not turn soggy from all that stacking. There were four of them and since Evonne couldn’t finish her large share, I have to finish her 1.5 pieces of leftovers. Of course, I was overjoyed to help.
The spaces are not as small as you would think because there are more alfresco benches outside.
Oscar’s Benedict On Potato Roesti, Smashed Avo, Poached Eggs And Tangy Hollandaise With House Cured Salmon, 19AUD
Divine intervention, my gluten free benedict has got all my favourite things. I have been obsessed with making my own smashed avocados at home lately. Bacon works well with avocados but thin sliced salmon takes home the prize.
Flat White, 3.80AUD
One of the things why I love coffee is its smell. That fragrant nutty smell is indubitably addictive. As much as I love a long black, I very much prefer the white. Not just artsy-crafty latte arts that angulate my inclination towards the latter, but white coffees retain heat much longer and it still taste good cold. But black coffee cold is impermissible.
The last time I met Evonne was about two years ago in Gold Coast. I was on a holiday trip and she made effort and took a long journey from Brisbane to Gold Coast just to find me. You guys have no idea how happy I was to finally meet her again today. The day had been fun and it was a great catch up. And now I miss her again, but until then.
