People who love to eat are the best kind of people. You have to admit that I’m right! We nestled along the Northcote region for a beautiful weekend brunch at Barry. Everyone of us was satisfied and happy with our choices of foods. Oh, and the space here, is Barry beautiful too.
Skinny Flat White, 3.80AUD
Barry’s house blend uses 5 senses coffee, with a mixture 50% Brazi Santo Antonio, 20% Peru Apu and 30% Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans. I am not so much of an expert when it comes to detecting different coffee beans, but it was a good blend with just enough bitterness for this coffee flavour.
Californian Superfood Salad, 15AUD
Rach loves her salad and this one was extremely rich in flavour. It had tri-coloured quinoa, crispy kale, wild organic rice, corn, coriander, jalapeños, goji berries and shredded ricotta. Barry uses spicy lime vinaigrette giving this dish a citrusy kick. It was so refreshing and we were all awake after trying just a spoonful from her plate.
Coconut Chia Pudding, 15AUD
I was feeling healthier than usual and opted for the Coconut Chia Pudding. What made the Chia Pudding extra yummy was the crisp factor given by the caramelised buckinis. More citrus from drizzles of the sour cherries and extra sweetness from the banana slices and strawberry. All I can say is, can I have this bowl of healthy goodness for breakfast everyday please?
Hotpot Eggs, 16.50AUD
Hotpot eggs comes with tomato salsa, cucumbers, chilli and peppers. It cannot be seen from the picture but there were scoops of labna yoghurt that were such a complement when eating it with the flat bread and the mixture of red.
Benedict Eggs, 19AUD
The Benedict Eggs was out of this world. Paired with ham hock with granny’s apples on crumpets as the base. How smart?
The reason why Barry appeals to so many foodie Instagrammers is how people could easily post pretty food pictures on their social media accounts. I cannot stress this further, natural white light gets you the best pictures. Aside from having to have good food, appealing pictures goes a long way (whether is plating, coffee or decor), its like free advertising.
Here’s us coincidentally matchy matchy in blue and black taken right outside Barry. Hm.. up next, gelato!
