Ivory And The Coast
Today we drove for two hours from Cradle Mountain crossing by Roseberry and Zeehan to a small and quiet town called Strahan for the purpose of cruising along the Gordon River. Thank you World Heritage Cruises for an enjoyable time! It was a six hour cruise that provides a guided tour along Hell’s Gate (narrow entry to Macquarie Harbour where convicts sail through making their way to Sarah Island), Liberty Point (a pen where the rearing of thousands of Atlantic salmons and Ocean trouts take place), Sarah Island (British convict settlement), Heritage Landing (ancient forest) and of course, the Gordon River.
In winter, it was difficult to get a good weather, but we went anyway. It was raining in the early morning and we didn’t want to expect too much of the weather and be disappointed with the turnout. As the clock strikes noon, right when we were approaching the Gordon River, it all turned around. The sun begins to glare lightly, not the harsh sun, but the kind of sun you receive with the morning light. It was possible for waters to create reflections because it was still. It was magical. Pause, I need a good pause to stare and admire at this still image. I guess white is also the ideal colour to blend in with such perfect purity.
