Since Jan and I were members at Crown, we received an email that consents a lunch or dinner promotion offering a selective one course (9.95AUD)/ 2 course(14.95AUD)/ 3(19.95AUD) course meals. Taking up the promotion also entitles you to get free five hour parking at Crown. Hooray! Its a ‘Monday to Thursday’ only promotion. Of which, we chose Jimbo And Rex Restaurant because they have one of the best ratings among the participating restaurants. We both have a three course set lunch each.

Bruschetta
Bruschetta
For starters, we ordered Bruschetta. We’re pretty pleased with the generous portions of salsa and it was really good! This is one of the very few times where I welcome cilantro and actually liking it. Cilantro on a salsa is never too overpowering! The bread base was nicely toasted as its not too fluffy nor too hard.
Salt And Pepper Calamari
Salt And Pepper Calamari
Yes its salt and pepper but its also buttered. It was perfect harmony when I dip the calamari on the lemon mayonnaise sauce. Since it was a lunch promotion the portions of all these dishes wouldn’t be as big as it would be if you order ala carte.
Sirloin Steak 230g
Sirloin Steak 230g
Sirloin Steak is not my favourite beef part, but hey its cheap! Prime rib would be my favourite, rib eye comes second, and tenderloin third. I asked for medium doneness and I think they gave me medium well to almost well done. Maybe its due to the fact that sirloin meats are generally not as tender as other beef parts that I should have asked for medium rare. The meat was almost all brown and untender. The chips however tasted more like spiced wedges and these bad boys are grease-filled-saltitastic!
Blueberry Cheesecake
Blueberry Cheese Cake
I rarely, in fact possibly have never seen a Blueberry Cheese Cake that is velvet in colour. Usually it’d be a normal cheesecake with blueberry fruits on top as dressings. But since blueberries are now one of the diffused ingredients, its undeniably phenomenal.
Triple Layer Chocolate Mousse

For our other dessert, we tried out the Triple Layer Chocolate Mousse which has white chocolate flakes on top. I loved it too. Its fairly difficult for me to dislike any dessert because I’m such a sweet tooth.

I was a little upset with my sirloin but generally satisfied with the entree and dessert choices. Visit Crown’s website to check out on the list of entrees, mains and desserts for all the participating restaurants.
Jimbo & Rex’s interior layout is way prettier than the outside. I hope you guys try out the lunch promotion too. For a three course meal at 19.95AUD and with free 5 hour parking, its quite a deal. If you think luck is on your side, perhaps… just perhaps…. you should try taking the escalator down to the Crown casino, gamble and win some bucks for a free meal. Oh man… after exams are done, I’m so coming back to Crown to play poker and try out other lunch or dinner deals. Toodles!
