Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Kaya Toast Set
Out of all the coffee houses or tea-time spots specially serving kaya toast, I think Ya Kun Kaya Toast has the best Kaya Toasts. Its a must to have a breakfast set which includes two slices of bread toasts cut in half, half boiled eggs with a cup of hot coffee or tea if you visit Singapore.
Singapore used to be a port where the British colonies love to visit for trading purposes. The British are famous for their French Toasts, tea and coffee. As time goes by, Singaporeans develop new ways making their rendition of the perfect toasts. British jams were replaced and Kaya came into the picture.
The bread has just the right amount of crispness. It warms the kaya and butter underneath the two sliced toast. All these toasts sets are no more than 5SGD. The eggs are fantastic too, unlike other shops where you have to do it manually, they will crack open the eggs for you. Convenience is a huge factor and this will ease your busy weekday mornings. Pour a teaspoon of the dark soy sauce to your eggs, it gives off nice flavour.

Kaya Toast With Butter
Time to time I’ll just crave for the Singapore tradition Kaya Toast With Butter for breakfast. By the way, their butter with sugar toast is pretty famous too. They also have Kaya Peanut Toast or Toast With Ice Cream which I have yet to try. That’s because I’m always here for their Kaya Toast With Butter. The Kaya Toast With Butter is their triumph dish and it is the very reason why this coffee house is called Ya Kun Kaya Toast.

Cheezy French Toast With Kaya

Not very cheezy as the name would state. The Cheezy French Toast With Kaya was on the verge of being soggy.

Soft-Boiled Eggs
Two small eggs done perfectly. You can even see the workers cracking the eggs after taking it straight from the steamy boiling water. They have superman hands.

Coffee (With Milk)
Choose from the normal Black Coffee (Kopi-O), Coffee With Milk (Kopi-C), Tea (Teh-O) or Tea With Milk (Teh-C) to compliment your toast sets.
Tea (With Milk)
My favourite is tea or tea with milk, I can’t decide. Ya Kun Kaya Toast is a common breakfast place in Singapore and a famous local coffee house. Its a must-do list to try out traditional breakfast as such if you’re a foreigner traveling to Singapore. Yummy!
