Interested
in having set menus for sharing, ala carte buffet or high tea buffet at an
extremely affordable price? Lao Beijing 老北京食堂 is one place to
be! The decor of Lao Beijing 老北京食堂 is very cultural and traditional. This Chinese
restaurant is especially the right place for family gatherings, casual dining
with friends or even corporate meetings. That’s because.. not just the
normal and public tables alone do they have. As unique as it is, they also have
private rooms allowed for dining. Due to the extremely low buffet prices, I
highly recommend everyone to make reservations before dining in.
All their buffet prices regardless of heading down to Lao Beijing 老北京食堂 during the weekdays or
the weekend, lunch or dinner, are priced at less than 20SGD. I’m not even
kidding!
I went for the high tea buffet on a weekday and paid 11.80SGD++. On the weekend
it will cost 16.80SGD++. It’s cheap thrill!

There
will be a selection of starters on a main table where anyone may proceed to
take any amount they wish to take. Not just the ones above, there’s Siew Mai
and the lovely Custard Buns too. Although… you should probably not have too
high expectations of the custard buns. Depending on how lucky you are,
sometimes the custard will be melted, at times it gets a little hardened for
being left in the open air for too long.

Lao Beijing 老北京食堂 works in a way that they provide you with a paper and
pencil with a list of menu on it. Depending of what you want, you just have to
select the dishes you wish to eat and hand the paper to the waiter/waitress. Of
course they’ll hand you a new paper each time you take a new order. The food
will then be sent to your table.
The
whole idea of this is to ensure that your food is always served hot.
Obviously.. Nobody wants their dim sum cold.

Sad to say.. they only have one dessert.. and that is this cocktail fruit
dessert. But hey I shan’t complain. It’s definitely a nice sweet touch to end
off the meal.
